The 5 principles
- Facts only. Log what a camera would see and a recorder would hear. Interpretations weaken records.
- Same-day entries. Contemporaneous records carry weight — in court and in your own head.
- One entry per event. Separate entries read as a pattern. Bundled entries read as a complaint.
- Every entry points to its evidence. Screenshot, email, receipt — filed where you can find it.
- Patterns over panic. One text is a story. Six months is a pattern. Review monthly, decide quarterly.
